Good board, slow shipping

I bought an ESP32 development board and some jumper wires. The board itself works great; solid quality and functioned exactly as I needed for my project. The website was easy enough to navigate. My main issue was the shipping time, which felt a bit slow compared to other online stores I use. It took about two weeks to get to me, which wasn't ideal when I was on a tight schedule. Customer service was responsive when I inquired about the tracking, so that was a plus. Overall, a good experience for the product quality, but they could improve on delivery speed.

So much fun!

I ordered the DIY Arcade Kit and it's absolutely fantastic! Everything arrived super fast, even earlier than expected. The instructions were clear, and putting it together was a blast. The quality of the components is really good too. I'm already planning my next project with Elecrow. I'm telling all my maker friends about this site!

Got my Arduino kit, it's cool

So I got an Arduino starter kit from Elecrow, just wanted to try it out. It came pretty fast, like, quicker than I thought it would. Everything was in the box and seemed decent quality. I'm just getting into this stuff so it's been fun messing with it. No complaints, it's all good.

Consistently good service

I've ordered from Elecrow several times now, mostly for PCB manufacturing and various sensors. This last order was for a custom PCB and a batch of Grove system modules. As usual, the PCB quality was excellent, and the modules integrated perfectly into my project. Their component sourcing service is reliable; I rarely have issues with out-of-stock items, which is a big plus. It's why I keep coming back – I know what to expect, and they consistently deliver on quality and accuracy. This experience was just as smooth as my previous ones.

Great value on components

This was my first time buying from Elecrow, and I was looking for a good deal on components. I picked up a few LoRa modules and a power supply, taking advantage of a decent offer they had. The prices were competitive, especially for the quality I received. Shipping wasn't the fastest ever, but it was free, which definitely sweetened the deal. Everything was well-packaged and arrived in perfect condition. I felt like I got a lot for my money, so it was a worthwhile purchase for sure.

Hey, is Elecrow legit for PCB manufacturing or should I just stick with JLCPCB? Heard some mixed things.

T Troy 2 months ago
Elecrow is totally legit. Used them for several prototyping runs. Quality's good, never had an issue with the boards themselves. JLCPCB is also fine, but Elecrow's component sourcing and assembly options are pretty solid.

I've used both. For basic PCBs, they're comparable. Elecrow's strength is definitely if you need assembly done too, or if you're looking at their specific kits and displays. JLCPCB is usually a bit cheaper for just bare boards sometimes.

Anyone ordered from Elecrow during Black Friday? Do they actually have good deals or is it just like, 5% off everything?

J James 2 months ago
They usually have some decent sales, especially on the kits and some components. I snagged a good discount on a CrowPi a couple years ago. Not massive markdowns on everything but good enough if you're planning to buy anyway.

Black Friday and their anniversary sale usually have better deals than just random times. Look out for the PCBA coupons too, those can save a good chunk if you're ordering boards.

Hey guys, planning to order some custom PCBs. How long does it usually take to get them shipped to like, California? Don't wanna wait forever.

M Mia 3 months ago
Yeah, I ordered a small batch last month to LA. Took about 10 days from when I placed the order till it was on my doorstep. Pretty standard for overseas stuff.

Depends on the lead time for the board itself and then shipping method. Afaik, standard shipping to the US is usually around 5-15 business days after it's actually made. They have faster options too, but $$$.

Are Elecrow coupons stackable? Like, can I use a new customer discount AND a PCBA specific coupon at the same time?

D Dan Walsh 3 months ago
Pretty sure they aren't. I tried combining a shipping coupon with a PCB discount once and it didn't work. Usually one code per order.

Yeah, usually not. Most online stores don't let you stack codes. It's either one or the other from what I've seen with Elecrow too.

Thinking of grabbing one of those CrowPi kits for my kid. Are they actually good? Or just another one of those cheap STEM toys that break fast? Wondering if I should just get a Raspberry Pi and build it myself.

M Mia 2 months ago
My nephew got the CrowPi2 for his birthday and loves it. It's pretty durable for a kid's thing and has tons of projects built in. Definitely more structured than just a Pi by itself.

Nah, they're pretty decent quality actually. Not like super high-end components but good enough for learning and experimentation. Much better value than trying to source everything yourself unless you really know what you're doing.
